We wanted to drive traffic toward our online Christmas gift shop, in particular to our large range of remote control toys. A good way to do this was to create some eye-catching visuals and let them loose on social media.

Around that time, the new Star Wars films were a hot topic, and we were stocking some fun looking remote control versions of characters from the films. Our online marketing exec suggested we use epic backdrops, typical of the films, to display these toys. I immediately knew what he was picturing and left the meeting to start work.
Having hunted down some sort-of alien backdrop photography from the farthest reaches of Shutterstock, plonked in our heroes, illuminated their weapons, added some atmospheric elements and gotten them signed off from our equivalent of a CD; it was time to get the green light from the notoriously fussy Disney and Lucasfilms.

After a couple days adjustments to the positioning of their logos, they were happy for us to let the images fly. In fact they weren't just happy - they were very fond of them, and so were we.
I can't remember if they attracted much traffic to the site or not, though I am sure they would have done. Overall it was an enjoyable and rewarding project to work on.
